Not clued up here... Was broadband existing prior to 1994, & how were the rates compared to now (Telkom monopoly)... This has nothing to do with politics or any other related comments! Just for me to know for interest sake

Was mostly bbs...which wasnt connected to the rest of the world.

Prior to '94 is this like sending letters and stuff 
The World Wide Web is invented (1991) : anyone and everyone
ADSL was pretty much only invented after '94, prior to that I guess true broadband was only available through cable in the US (coaxial cables also used in early networks), under correction though...
ISDN and dial-up doesn't count, these were available since the 50's but ain't broadband. (even though I guess in South African terms a dual ISDN at 128 might count as broadband)

Define Broadband. ISDN was/is available in 64Kb steps and many corporates had a 2Mb ISDN link. Was that broadband? You decide.
T1 used to be the most popular for business, but they only started being used by companies other than big telekom's in the mid 1990's. I first went online to the internet in 1996 but 94-95 we used telkom's beltel and compuserv to send email (both on modem so not broadband i guess

Beltel...aagggh. Remember innobel - you could lookup clients names from phone numbers....back in the day!

I did my "online banking" in 1994 over Beltel. That was like WOW!!
