I Stay in Risana south of Johannesburg. I have been using iburst for many years until recently when the tower that their base station was connected to collapsed. This means I currently have no internet and have been told they will onlt possibly have this repaired by the end of February.

My dilemma is this, what do i do now? I require internet and with netflix and showmax now in SA i need something quicker. I checked with telkom and after all these years of ADSL i can only obtain a 2mb line from them do to it being on copper. I searched for LTE coverage and various options and still nothing.

I assume it is because im am right on the pinnacle of a hill where there are various towers surrounding my property and a water reservoir next to my property why i am unable to get coverage?

I had someone from telkom come and test LTE and the most i manage to get was between 5-9mb without an external antenna but it was not stable as it sometimes went to 1-3 mbs and also was not very stable.

I really need a solution, i cannot beleive i cannot get more than 2mb adsl when ADL has been in play for many years. I heard there is fibre somewhere close but you have to pay to get it to your property and a hefty price.

Please can someone tell me what the best solution to my problem is. if it is LTE which is the cheapest option and through which provider etc etc etc

Your help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Unfortunately that is also a problem. where i live, Cell C, Vodacom and MTN get bad signal. I think it is all the interference with all the RF signals bouncing around up there. If i am lucky i get edge.

Maybe try easyweb in Alberton, meyersdal. They might cover your area cause you pretty close

R899 for a 5 Meg

I've applied for it just waiting for them to come do a site scan

Tested outdoors and indoors?

I have tested out doors. I have to practically move about 100m from my place to get semi decent cellphone signal. It is so bad up there you need a satellite dish installation to get any tv signal.

If you look at the map posted above, the white area on the bottom left is more or less where I am

yea, just asking.

Also live in a terrible reception area, I ended up tying my router to my kitchen window above the basin to get lte signal from vodacom (only SP that "works" at my house).

Have you considered checking the signal on your roof? If it's better perhaps get some antennae from Poynting.

With an antennae it should be much better, prob is the poynting antennae is very expensive. Ill look around. I first need to get a SP that can offer signal in the area
