Hello all.

I need to get broadband on the go, to use in Cape Town, Jo'burg and some other places. I am currently looking at MyWireless, as well as MTN and Vodacom 3G data cards. Problem is that none of the MTN shops I have been to could give me info on when MTN will provide a card and bundle offer like that of Vodacom. Any help would be great thanks.

I would recommend MTN for you’re needs. It has great coverage and EDGE in all the important and even relatively important places like Welkom etc.

And the data card is not something I would invest in. I have to agree with magus that the phone is a better option. I personally don’t like Bluetooth, I rather use the DKU-2 cable that comes standard with any decent Nokia phone. But Bluetooth is probably the option most user find more convenient.

DrD, I would opt for MTN, as they have the ability of droping from 3G to Edge and GPRS, but you need to ensure you have a handset capable of doing so, currently I think the only handset available to so is the Nokia 6680. Although Vodacom 3G is reasonably good, we have users in Melkbos and Killarney Gardens where the signal is not to great, it either drops 50% of the time to GPRS or no coverage.

A Nokia 6680 is definitely a good option as it offers 3G/EDGE/GPRS so combines the best of all technologies (speed vs coverage). Please private mail me with private details if you need someone to contact you with the correct pricing information.

As far as I know the 6630 Nokia also does all three

correct. and after having had time now to extensively play with the two (i have both the 6630 and 6680), i must say my preference is definately the 6630. its build quality is way better - its much more solid! and the battery life seems much better than the 6680.
