So someone has just brought me a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 PSLB9E and asked me to get a quote on how much it would cost to fix it. Now I need to know who I can contact to ask for a quote ect. When I switch on the laptop the fan starts spinning and it just shows a clear white screen, sometimes when I start it up it shows a black screen. What could be the possible problem? Also I have tried taking out the ram and starting it up, no beeps no nothing, also the hard drive, same no complaints from the laptop.

I'm considering contacting these guys: http://www.laptopaccessories.co.za, anyone know about them?
Not sure where to go from here, help?

Does the hard drives spin up?

Have you tried connecting it to an external screen yet?

We use their George branch. I see on the website they have also branches in durban and Jhb... As far as ive heard its only the george branch that still exists. No problems with them, except maybe their couriers which takes a little long. But can definitely recommend them.

Thank you will give them a call tomorrow.

I recommend to contact Brint Technologies to get a quote: 0825608277. I got alot of my laptop & PC soft & hardware issues fixed by Brint.

There is a branch in Durban, they moved recently though. Dont have it offhand - and see their website is down, as far as I recall they moved to the Riverhorse Park area... Will see if I can find it and PM it to you!

Could also try Partserv, they have a branch in Springfield and might be able to check it out for you - http://www.partserve.co.za/contactus.php

A last resort would be Mustek - they distrubute them. They will charge you to look at it though, but should be able to fix it for you.

Laptop accessories is legit although they take forever to process orders unless you really bug them about it.

I bugged them about it and was happy to purchase from them because I couldn't find a replacement LCD anywhere.

Just remember that in some cases it will be cheaper to buy a new laptop than trying to repair a broken one.

A quick fix will be to locate the CMOS battery & replace it. If it doesn't work, donate said laptop for spares.

Yes I know this, just need to get a quote first, if it's more than lets say R2500 I will advise the person to rather get a new one.

any special reason why you dont contact toshiba SA or Mustek direct?

Was thinking the same. Went to Mustek with my Toshiba, they replaced Mobo (was still under warranty though).

I am sure Toshiba will replace parts for a fee, although it might be horrendous.
