After reading through the vehicle insurance thread It seems like the only way to go is through a broker. Can you guys please recommend who you are using at the moment. Also how does this exactly work...you contact the broker and they look on your behalf for well prices insurance...is there a fee/subscription payable to them at all...? (I honestly have no Idea hence the questions).

They do everything for you.

You have a contract with them and you pay them the money.

They then manage all your insurance needs.

Between my house my bike and my two cars I have three different insurers but one broker.

Yes, but you don't get involved with any of that. They are your insurer effectively and you claim through them and everything.

Value ads like Roadside Assist in my case is done by my broker directly.

I use PCFA.

I see thanks that clears up a lot of misconceptions I had about the issue.

In some cases. Mostly the insurance companies deduct it from your bank account. The insurance company pays the broker a commission for your policy. So as long as you keep the policy they get paid, if they piss you off and you move to another broker they get the commission. So they try to keep their clients happy.

Actually on that note is it worthwhile to contact multiple brokers to see who can offer the best deal...?

I have one broker for the last 7 years. He finds the most competitive prices, I have referred him to a number of friends, and to some on My BB as well.
