Brown gets R10 000 bail

The Fidentia Group's former executive chairperson, J Arthur Brown, was on Monday released on R10 000 bail following his recent re-arrest on embezzlement charges concerning the Antheru Trust.

Brown was also out on bail on embezzlement charges involving Fidentia and the Transport, Education and Training Authority (Teta), as well as the Fundi and Infinity investment cases.

Brown, 38, appeared in the Cape Town magistrate's court before Justhree Steyn, who said insufficient evidence had been placed before the court to persuade it that Brown had become a flight risk since his wife had fled to Australia.

Steyn said a High Court judge had recently ruled that Brown was in fact a flight risk and had refused him bail.

Let's see... lots of years in jail or use the hidden stash to cut and run...

I'd run. Or kill myself, if that fails.

Next year this time the NPA (or whoever the hell is afte him) will get a 'wish you were here!' postcard from the Cayman Islands. :p

He's already been raped in the back of a van, so I wouldn't be surprised if he buggers off. One chance at freedom, and possibly never setting foot back in SA? Would make sense for him to run.

If he has a secret passport somewhere he'll no doubt run, and soon. His bail amount is laughable. WTF kind of example is the justice system trying to set here?

My money is on him being gone soon :)

If it was me I would have run a long time ago :p

That boy is going to do a runner the first chance he gets...

I'd be surprised to see him back in an SA court ever again, let alone on SA soil.
