Hey guys, I wasn't sure which topic to put this under so i just put it here....
My problem is, when i boot up my laptop it connects to my adsl router fine, but if i don't use the internet connection for a while and then try i can't. My pc still works fine. It only happens on the laptop and so far the only way i can correct it is by restarting it.
I should also mention, this only affects my browsers (IE and Firefox) my im's still connect fine and i can still browse the lan...

I'm running windows xp Pro on a Hp Dv6000z.
Any suggestions as to why this is happening or fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Does doing a "repair" on the connection help?

There is nothing wrong with the connection. The instant messengers connect fine and i can still browse the network...
I've done virus/adware scans and checked my registry...

Just update the driver and see if it helps ;)

I've updated to the latest drivers and it is still doing the same thing...

Okay dude, I'm not sure really, you said you can still browse the lan? I missed that part, that means the Lan controller is okay.

Are you using any proxies or anything and what specifically happens? Can't you open websites? Do you get an error message? Try and give more detail. ;)

lol yeah sorry... I can't browse websites, if i leave my browser open it seems to be okay but if i close it and don't open one for a while. When i try open a webpage it just says "unable to find server" I'm not using any special programs or anything, just straight lan cable to the router and out...

Hey bro, I've pm'd you a link to another support forum, international one. If someone else on myadsl finds the solution, cool, but else, try that site ;) :D

Ciao
