Brothers computer can ping facebook, but cant open it. Steam and teamviewer working fine so that's all okay. Can search through google different webpages but cant do much else.. Iv tried replacing host file, installing a different browser, fb still wont open. Any suggestions please? Also reinstalled network drivers.

Thanks

How is he accessing the internet and what exactly happens when you try to open Facebook (timeout, error message, etc)?

It's permanently loading, not opening at all.

On the same network my laptop is working 100%, i use same host files, same network settings, same browser and settings, still the PC wont work. I'm now trying different cable + port and holding thumbs.

Is he using any Anti Virus program that may have Parental Controls on? And also check the firewall. Try to disable it, and then try to load Facebook.

I had a issue with a machine not accessing secure sites using Internet explorer. Turns out it was a previously unsuccesfull uninstall of a anti-virus which left a semi-dead browser add-on.

Most of the anti-virus providers have a dedicated removal tool for their package. This is NOT the standard un-install option.

Another option is something like http://icompile.eladkarako.com/tcpip-and-winsock-clean-fix-for-xpvistawin7/
