Wbs say these towers are the problem any one else having problems with them

i am in Kyalami / bordering sunninghill - the signal is 100% but the speed is so slooooow - dont even talk about p2p - its non existent

if they know there is a problem why the hell dont they fix it - my *** they are useless

Craigsa,

I am in the same area as you. There is a tower at the Castle, Kyalami now, but I am not sure of its exact location. I have been with Ibust from Nov 2004, and have had crap connection/speed most of the time. The only time I noticed a dramatic improvement was 2 days later the Castle tower went up, and the speeds went back to crap. Only reason I have this connection is to test VOIP on Iburst. It does not work with this kind of latency(in my area), so I have cancelled.

the more i hear the more i hate the IBURST company - i am in line with the castle - line of sight - clear sight and i cannot even download anything on p2p and webpage loading is slow

I was refering to honeydew & bryanston towers If you do connect to these then what sort of speed does the telkom speed test give...

me 41-71kbits/s

line of sight, lol, its radio waves... you don't need line of sight.

Luckily I no longer have to deal with Bryanston-BS, not that I haven't had problems with Olivedale-BS, but I am somewhat happier.

Perhaps WBS need to investigate whether there is lead-based paint somewhere nearby and if pigeons have been eating the paint chips, and subsequently cr@pping on the Bryanston-BS antenna array...back in November & December I observed that rain decreased my UTD's signal strength led fluctuations......perhaps it was the rain shooting lead pigeons of the array...

Slim the genius !!Nobody said you NEED line of sight - but then u didnt read properly did u? again? a clear line of sight will always be better for any signal but not a necessity

Anybody here knows what frequency spectrum iBurst uses? Might give a clue as to what effect LOS and reflections will have on the signal quality.
