Chewing over the idea of starting this, really want to but hesitant.

I can't find any information on what languages they offer. I work full time so I'm a little hesitant as to the time available to do this. Anyone else doing/done this degree?

Thanks DanDango. Could you give me a brief on the difference between the two?

Back in my day we did Java but I've learned they are now doing Python in level 1 for the first time this year so it's likely Java might be replaced by Python in level 2 modules come next year. If you're in Westville you'll also do Assembly language during your second year and in the third year you will do C++ if they haven't changed it. If you choose to do Computer Science together with ISTN you will also get to use Visual Basic and C#. When it comes to AI in level 3 you will do a bit of Prolog and Lisp, the module is not heavily into programming you'll only do basics. So these are the languages you might encounter: Python, Java, Assembly, VB, C#, Lisp, and Prolog based on your choice of modules.

Nice list of languages there. I hope to do C++ as it'll give me a firm foundation. C# I'm also really wanting to do.

The biggest problem is I didn't do Maths up to matric level, so I'll give to do a filler module. I see they cover calculus and such, I'm not in any shape able to cope with that.

Looks good, thanks Njabulod. Going to contact Unisa in the next few days and get the ball rolling.

If you're working full time check out Unisa.

I have absolutely no idea how people can self study programming and maths. I honestly envy people who can do that! I'm the type of person when I don't understand why something is done the way it is, I immediately feel less confident in doing it. I need someone who can answer questions and explain to me why something is done like that in person. So I don't think I'd ever pass if I had to study a Bsc at UNISA:erm:

In my days the CompSci department had forums where one could ask questions if you did not understand something. The internet also helps. :)

I still find personal contact with a teacher/lecturer much more effective..
