Where are you thinking about doing the qualification?
Well, I did a ND: Web and Application Development at UJ (Which after I left became a BSC). Then I did a BTECH: Information Management. Of the two the management qualification has been the most useful with both career advancement and my personal general understanding of how things should be done. So yes I would say it is definately worth it, depending on what other qualifications you have.
I remember last year you said that if you could do any qualification regardless of money, you would like to study to become a vet, any more thought into that dream?

I also did my BTECH: Software Development at UJ. I think it is worth doing it pitbull![]()
See the Vet thing needs to be done fulltimeThat I can't afford to do /cry. Currently I'm in finance and I've been in finance since I left varsity. I want to do a career change. I want to move into IT and the best way to do it would be via a Bsc. The problem is: There is so many different streams on the degree. I think the Management stream covers the broader side of it. I might be wrong though.
That qualification could also double as a "Project Management" qualification in an IT related project.
Just what I was thinking as I tried to review the different streams![]()

is it only available fulltime ?
BTECH can be done part time in the evenings, but you need to have a diploma first.
Any diploma/degree or IT related ?
Diploma you usually have to do full time in the day, but what I would suggest is going to a career advisor at UJ. They will give you ideas on what you can study and what you can do with that qualification, also they will know what can be studied part-time.
If got a degree but it's not IT related.... that is the problem. Was thinking of doing an MBA but that will just push me higher in a Job I want to change
I want to go into IT![]()

Thing is I might then skip on the most standard courses which would leave me dangling once I hit the market and need to work
I was looking online and maybe I should just start at the bottom and work through all the courses from scratch.
Was thinking of doing Java. Now for that I think this is the correct courses ?
Introduction to programming
Introduction to Java
Advanced Java Programming.
(internationally recognised certification from Sun Microsystems.) *It doesn't say what type of cerificationDiploma/certificate ?
That should lay the foundation for going into IT deeper I think.... or am I wrong ?
I guess you should decide what part of IT you want to go into, because its all so different. Try out some java tutorials and see if its for you, because I can going into Software Development will add a whole lot of stress to your life. I think you original choice of doing the BSC is a good idea because there is a demand for project managers, I think you experience in finance will go well with that line of work as well. If after you have you BSC you see you need a bit more of the foundations, then maybe you can look at doing some of the quick programing/networking/support courses depending on which stream of IT attracts you.
PB, you want to go from Finance to Programming?
If i was you i would start looking more at Service Support type roles (ITIL, CoBit etc)
