Good day all,
So I live outside town, about 27km, and is dependant on 1 cell tower. We live in a koppie area, and have a cell repeater, which has been working for about 2 years.
For a place that had nearly zero cell signal, nor data, the 2 - 4Mbps and cell reception was golden!
So we've been having intermitted drops as well as speeds of max .9Mbps, if we are fortunate, for about a month.
I drove to the the tower, and to my dismay, saw another one about 300m across the road from it, with alot of more equipment attached compared to the broken one.
The tower is owned by Atlas, which seems to be owned by BSE Communicarions. Having to phone them and report the broken tower after about a month is disheartening, to say the least. We can't point to the other one, as there is a rather large hill leading to zero line of sight.
So what is a man to do in such a situation?
And forking the money out for satellite is not going to help as a couple of Rands was already spent on a cell repeater.
Is there maybe a better sender/receiver I can buy? Will it even work with the existing equipment?
Any help would be greatly appreciated folks
