ok, I have been running windows 7 ultimate 64bit for just over a month on my Dell XPS M1730.
On friday, in the middle of a WOW BG, my pc stuttered then gave me a BSOD with error 0x000000124 - unexpected hardware failure.
After spending the last 2 days dealing with dell's technical support they want me to pay 19 pounds to get help on a driver issue.
I have reinstalled drivers both from dell and nvidia (running 8800gtx's in sli)
I have also reinstalled windows 7 again. the error happens as follows:
I install nvidia drivers, I then restart, then run the NVIDIA driver tool and enable SLI, i restart again and after the windows logo I get BSOD.
I am going to run the dell recovery disks tonight and install vista ultimate.
Is there a way I can pin point the failure to get a replacement GPU?
I have read that this error normally results from a faulty GPU in the 8xxx series.
The dell diagnostics doesnt reflect an error but i dont think it actually tests the GPU rather just 2d vga...
Any ideas???
