BTGames and the Wii

I'm getting frustrated with BTGames.

I'm trying to get some answers about the Wii from them.

I've pre-ordered, but I'm trying to find out if a R50 deposit is required, and by when. Nobody can tell me this (literally; the person who replied to my email said "I don't know what's happening with pre-ordering the Wii").

Then I see that the price has gone up from R2799 to R2899 (but not on the big advert on the main page). I'm trying to find out why, and if it only applies to new pre-orders, but the email address I used before wasn't accepting mail; I mailed their site support address, and the person there said they didn't have any mail problems, but she'd pass it on. I've received no reply. Sure, it's only been a day, but you'd think they'd be eager to get people to pre-order.

It might not seem like a big deal, but I've been waiting for the Wii for ages, and now that it's almost within my grasp, I want answers!

I dunno, the whole Wii launch here (in general) seems a bit weak.
 
Typical of Nintendo in South Africa. I wouldn't be surprised if you find the Wii in the bathroom section at GAME.

Anyway I have emailed BT Games about your queries Cathryn and they do normally respond quite quickly so if I have any luck I will let you know...
 
I just tried to call the Core Group... their marketing line has been busy for a while now.. looks like they are experiencing high call volumes at the moment. I assume those fcukres are going to be bringing in a the full Nintendo Product line... I know some peeps who wanna get a couple of DS lites. I also need some more controllers and a classic ocntroller for my Wii... that is , if the accessories arent regionally encoded in some way.. dont think so...neh?
 
Its confirmed that The core group will be brining in all the Nintendo products. It should be available in stores by the end of this month.

Oh and btw the core group said they don’t think Rage is the right place to launch the Wii, just shows what they know about gaming.

Basically, yes, if you've pre-ordered you need to give them a R50 deposit ASAP; and yes the price has gone up, but existing pre-orders will be honoured.

They do seem to having email problems though, because my first email went through to him, but my second bombed saying 'mailbox unavailable or not local'.

YES.. I agree, instead the Wii should be launced at a dedicated event held at some trendy restuarant. Canapes will be served and only the who's who of South Afican celebs will be invited.. people like danny K and that other guy... ooh and zureida Jardine.....

Well in the US who did they use to launch the Wii? Oprah, Dr Phil, Regas etc etc . . .
 
I will never support BTGames.
An entire franchise build around doing nothing but supplying us with games, you'd expect them to actually stock a healthy collection of games right?
Nope.
You get a better selection of games at freaking look and listern.

Lame lame lame lame.

Remove your head from the idiot box of ignorance. Call Rage attendees hardcore gamers, not "real" gamers. Anybody who plays any game, by definition is a gamer - really. Even if it's Minesweeper.

But I do agree with you, Rage is probably not the right place. Nintendo would do better to steer clear of the hardcore image associated with Rage, Lans and Redbull swigging uber-geeks. They should head for You magazine, KTV and soap-opera hour. If I was them I would set up in the main hall of every major shopping centre - have the machine hooked up to a huge screen - then have some celebs play tennis or bowling or whatever other fun game they can. Have some demo units on the periphery where people can try it out.

Finally, they should make a deal with Reggies and Toys r Us so that the Wii is front window display up till Christmas.

Is this only for the Wii or is this a new policy??

I have pre ordered countless games through their site and never had to pay any deposit.
