Hi

My mother is looking to purchase a crossover suv.Now she has a budget of around R160 000 however she can push it to around + - R220 000 if needs be.She wants something that has a higher ride height then your normal hatch. She currently drives an 05 Yaris hatch.Iam thinking the Sandero Stepway. What do you guys recommend ?

Those cars are way over R220 000.Need a budget crossover

Renault Captur? You aren't going to get much new for that price.

Would she mind going demo? There are some good deals out there on sub-10K km cars

Nah doubt it.She's stuck in her ways.Just getting to try buy something other then a toyota took some convincing. She wanted a etios and told her to forget it :)

How to do rate the ford ecosport ? Prices start at R213 000

My mom is getting one in Sept, the automatic.

I want to get that cheapest one, it ticks my boxes on what I need (naturally aspirated petrol engine, 108pcd 4 stud wheels, ground clearance). I looked at the others, but unless they give me a super long warranty on the turbo so I know is will not give me hassles for 10 years, they can leave it.

^ Pros & Cons. Only issue is that N/A model is in the poor man spec & looks bad...no fogs; colour coding; alloys...etc

Can get fogs for R500 each. I aint paying R40 000 or whatever for some extra paint (I actually like the non chrome and black handles and mirrors anyway), wheels or a few features. One can get some decent wheels for nowhere that price too.

That thing is so ugly, you'd have to be legally blind to buy it. Which leaves the problem of who is going to drive it...

Thank goodness for opinions... I reckon it looks fantastic.

Tiguan; iX35 or its sister car; Duster if you want newer...

When are you guys going to realise that the iX35 and Honda CRV are almost as low as the average saloon - the body is high, but ground clearance is abysmal.

Unless the OP's mother is in to older better SUV's then she should look at the Duster and the Citroen.

Your opinion only. Everyone has different tastes, some find it ugly, some find it good looking. It did however won small SUV of the year in UK by WhatCar, Top Gear and Carbuyer. It even won 2015 World Car Design Of the Year.

I agree - I personally think it's a magic little beastie! :)

I don't think it's a bad car, and I like the fact that someone has the guts to try and push the envelope. I just don't like the looks :)

Most folk don't want an SUV to go offroad, apart from gravel perhaps; they just want an SUV.
