That's not really budget, is it?

Budget is the PC I bought 18 months ago brand new for R2200 ;)

hahahaha with the price of mobo's and gfx cards at 2k a piece i consider it budget ;)

I'm in cape town and will be using win 7 rc until october..

Thanks boet..

what the best bang for bug processor out there are the moment ? it used to be the Q6600

Case : ???

PSU : ???
MOBO : MSI P45 Neo3-FR
CPU : Q8200 2.33 GHz
HDD : ???
RAM : 4GB
GFX : ???? MAybe a 4850 ?

Suppose i am way out of the 5k teriroty

Those components are all great value for money. But ya it's adding up to more than R5k right now. If you want to spend less than R5k, get a G31 Motherboard instead of P45, and get an E5200 CPU. Still awesome value for money. A Gigabyte 470W PSU is sufficient for your needs - they're like R400.

This was my quote.

E7300
Intel P43 Topsfield - For the 6 SATA ports
2x2GB Corsair Valueram
160GB WD SATA II
Coolermaster 330 Elite+350watt PSU
22x Samsung DVD Writer
Asus EN9400GT Silent 512/128 with HDMI

R5000

Need to thank juggy for the quote it was spot on.. but now my eyes are getting bigger that my wallet and I have a crdit card.. so just looking at all the options... still think i might go with the Asus EN9400GT

.

@killadoob got vista ultimate and 2 copies of XP prof at home all legal

Can anyone recommend a good case.. doesn't have to be brand name but musn't have a psu

What exactly is the purpose of the case? I have a CM590 that I am very happy with. A little smaller inside than the CM690 but very good none the less.

Better brand cases are generally finished better and also you can get more extras for them like drive cages, HDD rails etc.

Scrap the 9400GT and go for a HD4670 minimum.

CM Elite cases are good. Can get the non-PSU version. Or CM690 for a bit more.

These are averages fromt he quotes I have got and found on the web...
looking good.. just need to find a GFX CArd

Code:
CASE : CM Elite R 500
PSU : 450W - 510W R 680
MOBO : MSI P45 Neo3-FR R 1300
CPU : Q8200 2.33 GHz R 1900
HDD : none - R 0
RAM : 4GB R 890
GFX : ?????

Total R 5270
