Been looking around for a new PSU. Dont want to spend more than R700. At the moment im running a Phenom x3 and a HD 4850 on a OEM 550w but want to get my pc geared up for the next upgrade. Realistically im never going to run a GTX295, 4870x2 or the like so I wont need a beast of a PSU. Im aware that the Corsair TX range have the best performance but I really want to keep to budget.

I have 2 in mind already:

Gigabyte Odin 585

http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/product_info.php?cPath=73_269&products_id=19261

and Huntkey APFC 700W PSU

http://www.landmarkpc.co.za/store/huntkey-apfc-700w-p-3101.html

Now if you go to the Huntkey's website, you can see how many amps it makes and I see 18A on each of the 4 12v rails. Im aware that multi-rail PSU's arent effective as single rail such as Corsair but 72A for R650 seems like a good deal to me regardless.

Any advice or other suggestions?

the corsair's have single rail? afaik it is duel? iirc I have 2 x 40 amp rails?

anyway - the odin seems okay i guess, or this if you have a bit more cash - it's a 600W dual rail btw.

and the HX1000? if it's not single rail, why is the TX750 single rail?

Just read about this ....surely something to consider when purchasing a PSU...

Life span is usually measured in mean time between failures (MTBF). Higher MTBF ratings are preferable for longer device life and reliability. Quality construction consisting of industrial grade electrical components and/or a larger or higher speed fan can help to contribute to a higher MTBF rating by keeping critical components cool, thus preventing the unit from overheating. Overheating is a major cause of PSU failure. MTBF value of 100,000 hours is not uncommon.

My corsair 650 has a single rail..

What i'd suggest is the cooler master 550watt. For the price it.'s great. That gigabyte you mentioned is only a 500watt.
