Hello guys. What would you recommend between the base Corolla Cross Xi and the Suzuki Grand Vitara GLX or even stretching to the Hyundai Creta. On another note how bad is the torque issue on the GV have seen reviews on its terrible overtaking on the highway.

Creta all the way..

How bad is the torque issue on the GV, well it is horrible, it is already a severely under-powered engine in the Baleno which is lighter, now imagine what it will be like in the heavier GV, then add passengers and it will be a dreadful experience.

Get the Creta. Second option can be the Cross, wouldnt even bother with the GV.

@Pax has some experience with hauling passengers with the same 1.5L engine, maybe he can shed some light and give his opinion.

We were just 3 adults. Myself, 110kg and 2 women, 60kg each. Not much for a car, but every hill caused a negotiation with the gearbox to keep the thing moving forward, often as low as 80km/h was the best it could manage. Note, that was on KZN coast, not even highveld. Acceleration should be measured on a calendar.
