I am struggling with buffering on Disney - not sure why - got 20mbps - can only watch for a few minutes before it freezes

What device?
I watched a 2hr movie last night in 4k on Disney+. Zero buffering.

I have watched a few movies the last week no buffering.
However was bit ill during the week and one evening was awake at 3am and watched a movie and got a lot of buffering. Could not understand it, have 100mb fibre line and its not that many other people will be on internet at 3am

Also watched a few titles since launch with no buffering - but Friday I couldn't watch an old 720/4:3 series without buffering. 100Mbps line. I'm hoping this buffering is a glitch that will be sorted soon.

We just switched to Plex and watched it there... And actually looked & sounded better

Buffering was a Samsung TV and RealMe Android TV

Oh I had the same thing with Curiosity steam on 4K - continual buffering on my rhythm 50Mbps line. Support kept blaming the line and went to the 100Mbps with the same result.

Still, support just tell me it's my line and urge me to upgrade the speed until buffering stops

VPN may help there, more direct connection to the servers, less congestion etc etc

Its not just about your internet speed, its the servers hosting the content, latency, device used, isp etc. Disney Plus' compression algorithim is terrible, 20mbps is not enough for a reliable stream when watching on there, you'll have to upgrade your internet to 50-100 mbps and even then you may still run into problems. It only launched in 2019 so its bound to have issues now and then regardless of the quality of your connection. Buffering issues is just the nature of the beast when streaming, nothing you can do about it, the only expection is Netflix, Youtube and Amazon, which rarely gives you any problems.

I tried with VPN on and off - I registered with Disney with VPN off - not sure if this makes a difference?
Can't imagine a VPN would help in the slightest if it it SA's Disney+ since they rely on third party CDNs which are presumably localised.

Well, from my experience, some 4K movies buffer via the Android TV app. Then, I got the app on my phone, and casted it to my Android TV box. No buffering, worked like a charm. Here's hoping they can iron this out as its quite a nuisance to say the least.

Had the same issue on LG smart tv. Trying switching the quality from Auto to Full HD or 4k depending on line speed, issue went away after I made the change.

We've also had some buffering. It could be because of the distance to nearest modem. We adjust the quality of stream when this happens.
