Bugatti Chiron

Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport

Flat front end, dynamic design and impressive rear spoiler - it's clear from the outset that the new Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport yearns for corners and challenging country roads. Pure and unadulterated. A genuine thoroughbred.

Bugatti has been producing sports cars homologated for public roads for over 110 years. In the past, vehicles such as the Type 13 and Type 35 have claimed countless victories at international hill climbs and road races. The Chiron Pur Sport is no exception to this long-standing tradition. The new model is an uncompromising hypersports car for exactly those winding roads - a new aerodynamic configuration generates more downforce while the lower weight increases agility. Even travelling at average speeds will stimulate all the senses thanks to a close-ratio transmission, high-performance tyres with a new material mix geared towards extreme grip as well as an agile chassis and suspension setup. By contrast with the Chiron Super Sport 300+, the record-breaking car that exceeded the threshold of 300 miles per hour for the first time, the Chiron Pur Sport focuses on extraordinary, tangible performance throughout the entire range of speeds.

"We spoke to customers and realised they wanted a vehicle that is geared even more towards agility and dynamic cornering. A hypersports car that yearns for country roads with as many bends as possible. An unadulterated, uncompromising driving machine. Consequently, the vehicle is called Chiron Pur Sport", explains Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti. "By cutting the weight by 50 kilogrammes while simultaneously boosting the downforce and configuring an uncompromising, sporty chassis as well as suspension setup, the Chiron Pur Sport boasts incredible grip, sensational acceleration and extraordinarily accurate handling. It's the most uncompromising yet agile Bugatti of recent times."

Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is handling-focused hypercar

Stiffer suspension and weight-saving measures give Bugatti's high-speed flagship a dynamic edge

Bugatti isn’t finished with the Chiron just yet and has revealed a new handling-focused special variant called the Pur Sport.

Featuring a number of visual and mechanical revisions, the Pur Sport is designed to offer “extraordinary, tangible performance throughout the entire range of speeds”, contrasting with the ultra-high-speed focus of the Chiron Super Sport 300.

New Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is a R51m hypercar ‘for winding roads’

The new Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport has been revealed, with the Molsheim-based firm describing it as an “uncompromising hypersports car” built to be driven hard on “winding roads”.

Just 60 units will be built – each priced from €3-million (that’s about R51-million) ... excluding VAT, of course – with production scheduled to start in the second half of 2020.

The latest version of the Chiron boasts a fresh aerodynamic configuration Bugatti says generates more downforce, while the vehicle’s lower weight (by about 50 kg) “increases agility”. The Chiron Pur Sport’s rear spoiler spans 1,9 metres to generate “serious amounts of downforce”, while the firm claims the diffuser also “significantly” boosts the vehicle’s aerodynamics.

Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Is One Expensive Toy For The Track

Stephan Winkelmann said Bugatti would reveal two new versions of the Chiron in 2020 and here we have the first one called the Chiron Pur Sport.

It packs the same 1,479 hp (1,103 kW) 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 engine underneath the skin but it’s now mated to a recalibrated automatic gearbox.

The revised body includes an aerodynamically optimized front fascia, now featuring wider air openings and an enlarged horseshoe panel at the bottom. At the rear, the Chiron Pur Sport wears a 1.9-meter wide spoiler generating substantial downforce and the redesigned rear is complemented by extremely lightweight exhaust pipes made of 3D-printed titanium.

“We focussed particularly on the agility of the Chiron Pur Sport,” Frank Heyl, Bugatti’s head of exterior design, explains. “The vehicle generates more downforce at the rear axle while the large, front splitter, air inlets, wheel-arch vents featuring optimized air outlets and a reduced vehicle height strike a clean balance at the front.”

Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Focuses On Driving

Bugatti has revealed a sportier Chiron. Meet the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport.

With a claim that it's new offering 'yearns for corners and challenging country roads,' the new Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport focuses on agility. The key changes are its trick aerodynamics as well as weight reduction. It also boasts a close-ratio gearbox as well as grippier special tyres. They're called Bugatti Sport Cup 2 R and were developed in conjunction with Michelin.

How the quad-turbo Bugattis evolved: From EB110 to Veyron to Chiron

Bugatti has brought together three decades of performance domination in a Dubai photo shoot and desert dash that brought the latest Chiron together with its immediate predecessors, the Veyron and EB110.

The EB110 was first revealed back in 1991, and you’d be surprised at how many modern supercar ingredients are in place here.

Built around a lightweight monocoque that weighed just 125kg, the EB110 GT was the first series-produced car in the world to be made of carbon. The body used a combination of that and aluminium, while the wheels were cast from magnesium.

As with the Veyron and Chiron, four turbochargers were also part of the deal here, although the EB had a smaller 3.5-litre V12 engine. There was nothing small about the performance however. Capable of a 3.26-second 0-100km/h sprint, the EB110 was the fastest production car in its day, while the top speed of 351km/h also raised a few eyebrows.

The engine produced 412kW and revved all the way up to 8250rpm, while its quartet of blowers operated at boost pressures of between 1.05 and 1.2 bar to minimise turbo lag.

Jacob & Co. Reveal R5 Million Bugatti Chiron 16-Cylinder Tourbillon

Last year Jacobs & Co. and Bugatti signed an agreement to create timepieces that honour the power and performance of both brands. This resulted in the Twin Turbo Furious and the Epic X Chrono. Now, though the two companies introduce an all-new line: the Bugatti Chiron that honours Bugatti’s W16 masterpiece.

Say hello to the $280,000 (approx. R5 million) Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon.

This incredible creation is powered with a movement that emulates the 16-cylinder Bugatti engine, complete with crankshaft and pistons. In fact, the 16-cylinder piston engine of the manual winding movement consists of a massive 578 hand-assembled parts.

Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Looks Furious On Track

The newest member of the Bugatti Chiron lineup is, of course, the Pur Sport and is a new spicy flavour of the W16 monster developed to devour race tracks.

Bugatti recently took two prototypes to Germany at the Bilster Berg circuit to fine-tune Molsheim’s idea of “The Ultimate Driving Machine.”

What changes have been implemented to produce a track focused hypercar? It sports a firmer chassis, shorter gear ratios (higher max rpm), stickier Michelin Sport Cup 2R tyres and it drops 50 kg compared to the regular Chiron.

The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Looks Seriously Fast

Bugatti is still testing and tweaking the track-honed Chiron Pur Sport and they have finally given as a morsel of footage of the hypercar in action.

As expected, it looks fast, very fast with Sven Bordhorst behind the wheel of the 1,479 hp (1,103 kW) Molsheim machine.

Jacob & Co’s latest watch is inspired by Molsheim’s record-breaking 300mph Chiron

Thought Jacob & Co’s last Bugatti-inspired watch was outrageous? Well friends, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

The latest watch to emerge from Bugatti’s partnership with Swiss watchmaker Jacob & Co is called the “Twin Turbo Furious Bugatti 300+”, and it’s ridiculous. You Can Cool An Entire Apartment With The Air-Conditioning System From A Bugatti Chiron

Julia Lemke, engineer and overall technical coordinator for Bugatti air conditioning systems, recently detailed the process of keeping the high-performance cars cool at their mind-boggling top speeds and as you can imagine, it’s no easy feat.

The Chiron and the Chiron-based Divo make use of two air-conditioning condensers to ensure heat dissipation from the vehicle, one central air conditioning unit and a compressor, with the entire system made up of around 9.5 metres worth of air conditioning lines.

Volkswagen Group set to off-load Bugatti to Rimac, says fresh report

A fresh report out of Europe claims the Volkswagen Group is set to off-load subsidiary Bugatti to Rimac Automobili, a Croatian automaker that focuses on electric vehicles.

According to CAR magazine UK, Bugatti will “likely be transferred to Rimac via Porsche, in exchange for a bigger share in Europe's answer to Tesla”. Porsche already owns a 10 percent stake in Rimac. This, the report, says would be set up as a “straightforward barter deal”.

The report claims VW Group executives have already approved the deal though adds it “has yet to be signed off” by Wolfsburg’s supervisory board. Bugatti CEO Stephan Winkelmann is unlikely to remain in the role, according to CAR magazine UK.
