Buggy Xp Service Pack 2 Install - Please help!

So I finally have XP SP2 running, and running well on my 2G Surf ASUS EEE PC, and now I have lost my battery meter from the taskbar.

I have googled and found not much. I have tried doing what is suggested here: http://www.footslog.com/board/Forum14/HTML/000196.html
with no luck.

Worse than just not having the battery meter, when clicking on power settings in control panel or in the screensaver tab of display properties, nothing happens. Nothing at all.

It is kinds important to have access to the power setting I think

Any ideas much appreciated.

I installed all the drivers off the ASUS XP install driver CD and everything else is working 100%.

Surprisingly well. Only 512MB RAM as well. Much better than any of the Linux flavours I tried on it.

What BIOS and ACPI settings do the EEEEEE machines use? I'd like to play with it some time
