Why not have a true simple 'build your own contract'. Start at 0 minutes, 0 data, 0 SMS and add :

Minutes in 25 minute only increments at R40.00 per block
Data in 250, 500, 1000 only increments at R50, R90, R140.00
SMS in 100 increments only at R20.00 each.

Because it's cheaper to oversell every month and make up for it later.

While it may 'better' to oversell, if the competition starts coming out with something similar they should start looking at something at similar.

I'm throwing figures based on what they have - so it's pretty much their pricing (in fact I used lower - I think VC are R150.00 for GB?)

Concept is similar though

I think that is totally different reason.

I think not allowing you to only pay for what you use is the same reason (in the context of contracts).

It's the same reason my wife takes 3 trays of Yogurt from Woolies instead of 1, because there was a buy-2-get-1-free promotion

I think in DTSV case they have Channel 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 all from external suppliers, different costs and different viewing/popularity. Channel 3 and 5 may, for example, be horrible channels and if one chose channels, they'd cease to exist leaving only 3. With fewer channels, costs will increase as well - so choosing in that case could have a larger impact. Oh - and it's not as easy technically as well.

With a building contract, it's all Vodacom services and far more simply with less impact
