You need a motherboard, CPU, Power supply, Case, Hard Drive, DVD-ROM, some RAM, a mouse, a keyboard and a display.

Some good prices are available at many sites on the internet, 2 of my favourites are Esquire and PC International.

PC International have some pretty good deals on pre-built desktops, so check their options. They have a good indication of what you can get for your money. -> http://pcint.co.za/pcs.php

Synaesthesia is correct all hardware included however since it seems you have never built a PC before rather buy a pre-built system so you don't run into any compatibility issues

+1 to PC international

I think if you are keen to give it ago and build your own.. (which is quite easy since most things are color coded or keyd to fit a certain way)
Give us your budget and if you want a screen, speakers and peripherals with it or just the box?
And we'll give you advise on what best fits your budget as well as ensuring compatibility of the parts..

Do you want to build it yourself, you can get it real cheap at suppliers, All in One

RAM compatible?

Hi guys, reguarding my diy desktop,i have decided on the foxconn H55XV motherboard with a Intel Core i3 processor. Can you tell me what RAM i should get if i want to use only one of memory slots and what case i can use with psu?OH.any ideas on a compatible 500GB hard drive.THANX.

RAM: make sure that it is DDR3 preferably 1333MHz and 1.5v or 1.6v. I would recommend you get at least 2GB. Examples: Geil, Transcend, Corsair or Kingston.

Hard drive: basically anything that is SATA 2 and 7200rpm and between 16mb or 32mb cache (preferably 32mb). Brands include Samsung, Hitachi, Seagate and Western Digital...

Case: make sure that the case supports mATX (as I'm sure your mother board is mATX)

Powersupply: for that build, any generic power supply will do. Although it would be recommended to get something like this: Corsair cx400w or OCZ StealXStream 400w but that might even be over kill for you. You could easily get Odin 370w as i assume you using on-board graphics?

Almost all cases support mATX. Any Power supply will suffice, the core i3 + integrated graphics consume very little power.

+ another 1 from my side. I have been comparing their prices with suppliers this week and their prices are on par with the suppliers and best of all, you don't need an account to be able to buy from them, they are like a walk in store and most of the time, have stock with them.
