Hi all,

I want to build a small lapa (not thatch roofed though) 4x 100mm steel poles to keep termites away, wood beams copied from an existing on plan addition, 0,5mm IBR roof sheets and 1 side closed with pallet wood that faces the neighbors boundary wall just over 2m away.

There's a circular flat area that was levelled and built previously that I suspect was for a pool/portable pool spot or fire pit at some stage where I want to build my little braai plekkie, just adding another 1m and making it square, so 4m x 5m, max 2 closed sides with the above mentioned pine planks/ pallet wood.

What's the rules regarding this, do I need plans or permission pr anything? Or can I do what the previous owner did and build away and get the plans if someone asks when I sell?

As far as I know, any structure that has a roof over it and has people under it, requires a plan. I speak under correction.

Seems to point towards needing plans or permission at the least, maybe someone can still confirm?

Although, anyone here able to assist with professionally drawn plans or the route to take to get them?

That's my understanding as well. If there is a permanent roof structure you need building plans.

Need plans as well as make sure all existing structures are on the plan.

Good luck.
