Any idea if a cost per meter for a brick wall, plastered and painted?

I want to put up a wall in the front of our cluster and it needs to be in "tuscon style, and painted.

What can i expect per meter

It depends greatly on who you get to do it. Then it also depends on the type of brick and how high you want it.

Had a [plain 0brick] wall built about 8 years ago for just over R100/m [excl bricks], then it was ~2.2m high. I've seen prices go as high as R1000/m though, so you'd best go and get a few quotes.

Plastered on both sides? R1000/m is on the low-end for a half-brick(single row) wall with columns if you want full-brick (two rows of bricks) it will be quite a bit more.

Well it needs to be stander wall hight, double brick, plaster on both sides and painted.

I am paying a couple of builders R1900 to extend my kitchen. That's the price for the entire job. That way you know they won't waste time. But these guys are two of those you pick up next to the road, those standing with their tools next to the road. I wouldn't advise you do to that if you don't know a little about building though :)

Well, the price I mention is what I'm paying without the project management fees... So just material and labour. Full brick will probably be around R1300/m

I am building 40m wall soon 1.8m high, current cost is R 625/m unpainted, I am not building with a contractor, getting everything myself and getting a skilled guy to do the building and plastering, will paint it myself.

Is that 40 metres or square metres?

Thats about right...

I have a 45m long 2m high retaining wall to build sometime in the not too distant future....

The concrete for the foundations alone (if I did it as a block wall) would be R20k alone...

Never imagined a wall could be so expensive

Best is to DIY. Get a drive around where you see people building. Ask for bricklayer and make contact with someone that can build. Decide where you are going to get the bricks and sand from and ask them advice about building the wall. Also ask them or the local municipality for names of a draughtsman that can put the wall on plan. Get the bricklayer to do the job you manage the job. Maybe take longer but will be cost effective in the end.
