I am building a computer

Intel Core2 Quad 2.33Ghz
XFX nForce 750i SLI Motherboard
XFX GTS 250 Standard Edition
2 x 1Gb DDR2 1066Mhz RAM
1Tb SATA2 HDD
LG DVD-RW Drive

Will a 500W PSU be adequate?

should be plenty :)
google a PSU calculator... should help you out :)

I would say yes as well  .....

But before you go running off to go get the cheapest 500W PSU, there are some things to think about.....
Make sure that the PSU is made by a well know company (CoolerMaster, Antec, Zalman,Enermax, ect)
Try getting a PSU with 18A on the 12V Rail.
Also, look for the little extras like adjustable rails, detachable rails, fan noise, etc.

The cheaper brands tend to generate more heat, which leads to power loss ;)

Here is a Calculator - http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
