Building Paint Specs on car....

Hi guys, need some advice.

The story so far:
They have been painting the building where I work and my car along with some colleagues car's park on the ground floor next to the building.

Yesterday I take my car for a wash and notice specks of paint (the size of a grain of sand) all over the car, on getting back to the office I notice that almost all the cars that park in the same area have the same problem spots. So its quite clear that while the wind was howling on Friday paint particles blew onto the cars. I went to a auto paint specialist who quoted me R1500 to remove the spot.

We then proceeded to phone the building owners who then sent the manager of the painting company to have a look. The paint people have now offered to bring their own staff to wash, buff and polish the paint off. We have rejected this as I am afraid that they might hurt the cars paint by doing this incorrectly.

I have since phoned the building owners and told them that we are not satisfied and we would prefer professionals to fix the mess. I am now waiting for them to get back to me. In total its about 9 cars affected.

Apparently its a water-based PVA, but i'm not sure about that as a car wash didn't do anything to remove the specks.

Any one have any suggestions on how these should be removed without damaging the paintwork and also can we hold the building owners or the painters liable?

i have had the same thing and when they offered to remove it ended up leaving small scratches on my old car

put your foot down and make them pay to have the professional do it. if there were cars close by they could have the decency to ask you to move it.

That is what happened in my case, they were painting our office buildings without asking people to move their cars and from the strokes ended up with thousands of little dots.

It wont come off in a regular car wash and will need some elbow grease, recently to remove some tar spots i used clean green but there are multiple products on the market to remove them, some work and some are gimmicks.

Afraid that they might scratch my car as they did yours when they trie to fix it, so we are pushing for the processionals to do it.

Yeah I did actually ask them whether we need to move the cars when they first started and they said its not necessary. Think they were careful up to Friday but were then in a rush to finish the project as it was there last day....

They have one of those Indemnity signs up stating that the parking and building are used at own risk....
So far the owners seem to be helping, but not sure how far those signs indemnifies them from negligence by there contractors.
