Hi,

Information on the net is disjointed regarding this subject.

I'm trying to build my own boot cd with a custom menu / splash that will enable me to run Hiren's/ UBCD/ whatever else I want.

I've designed the splash with Easyboot and had Easyboot create an iso once my files were all in place.

This disc and menu / splash boot in my VM (Virtualbox) - but if I select any of the entries (Hiren's or UBCD) then I get checksum errors for isolinux in UBCD and Hiren's refuses to load the menu and I end up in Grub.

When I use the disk in the pc Hiren's won't even attempt to boot - e.g. it doesn't even deviate from the custom menu I made. Also UBCD won't run as isolinux gives a checksum error.

Any ideas?

Any better ways of making a customizable boot cd with all the apps I need etc. Aim is to keep my disc count down as I am a travelling techie and don't want to carry too much.

Thanks
J

Hi,

For the bootable cd/dvd's that I create, I use a program called CDShell.

To use it I usually have to write scripts such as how the menu would look like, etc.

If you like to give it a try, you could visit this page:
http://flyakite.msfn.org/bootmenu.htm
which gives a nice example on how to get started using the program.
