Is it possible to send bulk mail using Iburst?
I see that the limit is a 10MB limit per mailbox but what about a business wanting to send out mail using Iburst? What options do we have? Do we just relay off the smtp.wbs.co.za server? Or do we have to purchase something extra?

Tried finding out from the helpdesk but they as usual have no idea but I can't imagine that there are businesses out there using Iburst without e-mailing.

I think the 10mb would be refering to the size each email account can store... sending is different.

I suggest you relay off smtp.wbs.co.za but set whichever program you are using to send the mail... set it to put in short delays between messages so that it doesnt overkill.

I would have thought the same but on their site it says 10MB per month which sounds more like a limit on amount sent and received rather than a limit on storage.

I sent out a mass mailing to customers last week. The limits set by WBS are: maximum size of the message < 10MB and there must be no more than 30 recipients per batch (see the Technology FAQ listing on the web site). I set the recipient batch size to 25 (just being cautious) and sent out ~250 messages of ~500KB. No problems.

Must have taken a while though.. Iburst upload aint the greatest.. i have to wait long just to send one messgae with any attachments.

EHV - It wasn't lightning fast, but not too bad - each batch took less than a minute, so the whole process (10 batches of 25 recipients) took under 10 minutes. Enough time to make coffee. The previous mailing I had done via dial-up, so this was a big improvement!

I have not had a problem sending big emails via smtp.wbs.co.za
in fact when i am capped they upload at full speed.
I used their smtp server for a week or so on my small network at work. we send +- 100mb per day no problems.

I do have to add that I am close to a tower and my signal is good.
not sure if distance will make a diff with sending more so then the receiving. I guess more people are interested in how fast they can download rather then send
