Good Day guys, i hope you can help me with the following,

Which connection/link type is used by bulk sms sending gateways to connect to cellulalar/service providers, e.g We have a bulk-sms gateway for sending sms to different network users(Voda,MTN,Cell-C), what link type supports sending of sms's, are we talking PRI, ISDN or ADSL?

This will obviously be the link between our system and the service providers to send sms.

link type = anything you can use to connect the internet boet

the internet kind of revolutionized that ****

you put a file with what you want to send on the provider's FTP and they pick it up and send it. Or you use their WebService (API) to send the messages through HTTP.

It's not like the 1990's where you needed a ISDN or Diginet line

AcidRaZor I'm not sure if i understand you properly, but let me see, the links i'm inquiring about will sit between the SMS/WASP Gateway and the mobile operators, the API/application will relay their information to the WASP gateway, this responsible for relay of the message designated mobile provider.

I was thinking its ADSL but my questions are around the billing
1-How will mobile operators bill you based on the sent SMS?, will they bill you for the rented line size 2mbps?

1st you need to become a WASP.

2nd you need to negogiate with each network to connect to them

3rd you then need a VPN to each network - usually you need to do this via nominated hosting facilities

4th you need a lot of infrastructure and staff to ensure you remain within the WASPA & network guidelines

else

Go find a WASP that has a public API or an aggregation WASP if your sending more than 200K SMS a month. You connect to them using normal internet connectivity via either SMPP, SOAP, WSDL, HTTP, etc calls.

Oh as for billing, you get billed per SMS sent and this is on a sliding scale - the more you send, the less you pay but its not cheap. Don't think the WASPs send for free.

cbrunsdonza all of the above has been done, i was only not clear on the connection setup to each network, so i apply for a ADSL link for a SMS Dedicated connection to their network and this should come with authentication details to access their network to relay sms's.?
