Bulldog 4Mbit/sec

I just when to pcpro.co.uk and went to http://www.bulldogdsl.com.
They are offering a 4mbit/sec package for ONLY 20 pounds for first three months and then 30 pounds for the remainder (9 months).

Imagine we had uncapped/uncached protocols with a 4Mbit/sec down and 512kb/s up for 20 pounds (3 months) and 30 pounds (9 months)

I wish it wasn't only a dream for South Africa.........

Last month my dial up costs were R145. For slightly more than double I can get the above.
All I do is check email and quickly download web pages for offline reading.

Nevermind, so long as Sizwe enjoys his R43,000 a day salary.

Alternativly you might wanna go have a look at http://www.bulldogdsl.com this however(unfortunalty has no porn *sorry dom*) does tell you about DSL.

I know his package was 12.5mil for last year. But when its divided into a daily figure one can see how idiotic the picture is.
Telkom need not to retrench the 10 to 15%. All they need to do is divide the pie more equally.

I see nobody notices the catch:

I'd rather have slow ADSL than live in Central London. Or any of London for that matter.
 
Well I suppose you have a point there, The Voice. But it does demonstrate that UK ISP's can go that low.

And if Bulldog are doing that then I bet other ISP's will surely follow and it won't be restricted to central London
 
I guess the same can be said of central PTA or JHB. [:D]

I do however know a guy with a pretty lani place in JHB CBD with floorspace you will not be able to afford anywhere else!

It is so great to see what a bit of comp does. I was so shocked when i read that thing about AT&T. It would have been so great if they had come in. $$$ coming in and they have enough of it, am sure we would already be looking at a TNO(third national operator) by now :( well one day....

What happens in London always spreads across the UK. The UK seems to have its bit between its teeth re broadband. What speeds 3 years down the line....?

And us in 3 years! Nowhere.
 
I remember these guys popped up beginning of last year while i was still over there, they're always trying to offer adsl at a cheaper rate and they should b applauded for that. i think they were responsible for many isp's over there reducing their rates. initially there were complaints about this and that, but by the time i left in july2003, they were going strong.
No-one i know over there is still on 512k, they have at least moved to 1meg lines, and i'm jealous as hell[:(!]

Yep, I was looking at the BlueYonder.co.uk site earlier - they recently just upgraded all their services' (and the users) speeds by 50%...FOR FREE! No price increase whatsoever, so 512 users are on 768, 1mb users are on 1.5, and the 2mb users are now on 3. I was quite impressed by that, to say the least.

A company like Freeserve would do wonders here in SA - they revolutionised internet access in the UK by charging NO monthly fee whatsoever, you only paid for calls. It was insanely popular, and they responded very well to the huge increase in demand, which SA businesses often seem unable to do.

Freeserve also revolutionised it again when they introduced 24-hour anytime access for a set amount per month. When I was still there it was about £15, and you could use your 56k dial-up at any time of day, for pretty much as long as you want (providing you're not on 24/7), without paying any call charges whatsoever. Obviously it's not as popular anymore since broadband is available, but in the rural areas where it's still to be introduced, it's a good choice.

Something like that would make it so much easier for people to start using the internet. Which probably means we won't see anything like it for a while, since Telkom doesn't seem to have any intentions on getting SA online.
 
I'm on bulldog here - static ip for £2.30 per month 1mb down (6pm-8am) otherwise 512 /256 up for £29.99 per month no mention of a cap -- they're exellent!! -- I haven't had downtime in 8 months!
 
Reech what is the point of you joining the MyADSL forum if you live in the UK?

Is it to either make Telkom feel bad[:D]

I am south african - and spend a lot of time in cape town - if broadband in south africa was viable I'd be able to move to Cape Town permenantly and telework from there - so I think I have a stake in all of this.
 
Just 20 pounds???? geez......and that is +- 4 hours pay-rate in UK....which means u just have to work for 4 hours and u can afford this high speed for 3 months......makes u think.....eh brainy South Africa?? [:)]
 
ADSL in the UK was wonderfull to work with. Received 8 static IPs, DL speeds on 512/256 was a steady 60-64KB/sec down, 32KB/sec up and never had downtime. All of that for almost an hours work.
It was lovely to work in a country where the money is worth something. It's just not a great place to live in...
