Been following this website, www.bullsnbears.co.za for the last month or so. Recently the person posted saying the following:

The following stats refer to our trade performance since 4 June 2013:

Calls: 32
Profits: 22
Loss: 10

Average Profit: 10.52%
Average Loss: 2.18%

If a R100 000 investment was made in each trade, your portfolio would be up R209 710.

If one has to cumulate these trades, your R100 000 portfolio would be R434 545.

While I don't doubt those statistics, I do doubt the sustainability of the returns. I am just wondering whether this is yet another person who thinks he is God's gift to mankind or whether he is actually giving "sage" advice.

I wouldn't make a judgement call on performance based on a few months of activity.

A better way to measure performance and confidence in the manager is to look at the size of the porfolio as well in relation to the returns. Making a 200% return on a R1000 over a few months is much easier than on a few million.

Hey Guys, cool to see some other MyBB users following this site as well.

I have been following it since about July and have followed about 75% of the trades they put up. I have used the take profit and stop losses as they have said and iv been putting about R5-10k per trade, my average gain is 10% per trade (with no leverage) and my loss is no more than 3-5% per trade due to having a stop loss in place. I have invested a total of R25k of my own money and my portfolio is sitting on around 60k now. (some of the trades I have used CFDs to leverage myself so the gain has been 60-80% per trade)

Our trade ideas are posted on our website each day we advise them. They are open for readers to see each morning along with our free newsletter that it forms part of.

This is purely an overview of the trades we have advised since inception, this is not a portfolio we are running behind closed doors. Whether one is investing R1000 or R1m, the investment decisions are the same. We advise a client with a R5000 portfolio exactly the same as one with R500 000. We do not invest in illiquid penny shares with high risk, we only advise stocks that are in the JSE Top 100.
