BumpTop in Linux

I first saw their demo on TED, and it is awesome.
On their forums, they state that they will develop it for linux at a later stage, but somehow I get the Idea that it won't work too great.

This got me wondering... how hard can it be?
Can't we start an opensource version for Linux?
Surely there's more than enough talented programmers in the Linux world that will love to contribute.

Any thoughts on this?

My work has a proxy and only a few websites are open for browsing, so i cant visit www.bumptop.com

I downloaded BumpTop last night... it's not that great. It's fun, but not really life changing.
