Hi guys

I want to install bars across the windows.I have heard that all bars can eventually be broken/bent, but its better than nothing.

3 options

Clear polycarbonate security bars? I've heard that you can simply saw through this?

Flat steel bars - I've heard that you can take a spanner and just bend this?

Round steel bars - I've heard that this is the hardest to get through?

I have aluminium windows.- but only half the window can actually open, the size is about 1.2x1.2 m.

What is the best in terms of pricing : security?

Can you recommend companies in the Helderberg area?

Thanks

I've recently installed Aluminium windows at my home.

The burglar bars are 12 mm square bar going across the entire window. At the frame of the window the bars go into the concrete, and is screwed in the middle of the frame as well.

All burglar bars can be broken with enough force, just make as time consuming and difficult as possible.

What about trellis?

What can you tell me about Trellis besides the higher price?Im not convinced of Trellis, they can also be bent, so i see no advantage over the round steel bars.

Well, I pretty much think all of them are vulnerable. I just like the look of trelli's, not sure why. It's looks neater I think. I would definitely not go clear plastic though.

Would be interesting to see the difference to between trelli's and normal steel bars?

by the way, did you have the windows installed recently?

Trellis are easy to breach. And it can be done very quietly.

The best burglar bars are the ones that are slightly better than your neighbours.

How are trelli's different to other bars to breach?

Im not challenging you, Im genuinely asking cause I don't know..

They claim their rivets are super strong but they aren't. We have tested them after a mate of mine was burgled. We popped 10 in as many minutes using a hand drill. Granted, that was a few years ago but still, very easy.

Interesting. I actually always suspected those rivets. Which brand were those?

How would you get a normal burglar bar out? Rip it out of the wall?

They guys just use a carjack and bend it.No bars are foolproof.

They drill the rivets out of the trellies and bend them open, tie a chain to the bars, other end to a car and pull them out of the wall. still better than nothing though
