our grandparents had a holiday bungalow at Langebaan Lagoon and we all used to go there for holidays when we were young. as we did not have hot water our parents used to boil water in the kettle or on the stove and pour it into the zinc bath we had. they would then pour in the cold water so we could wash. my cousin fell into the bath before the cold water was added and his clothes were burnt to his skin. he must have had 1 to 3rd degree burns all over him and when our parents tried to get him out and out of his clothes, his skin would peel off too. its so dangerous working with hot water.

Immediately immerse in cool water.... to stop the blood from rushing to the area... and cool the skin down. Keep in cool water for as long as possible. Swimming pool is a good idea....

but I guess it is too late now. :(

I'm going on a department of health and safety approved level 1 First Aid training course at the end of this month. Can you hang on until then?
