Hi all

A family member has a 8,5 hectare property near Centurion. It has electricity and water supply as well as a decent office and storage space. He is struggling to generate income from it.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Currently also growing some vegetables.

How did he come across this property or/and what was the idea to start with?
 
Rent office
Build small, off grid cabin and then sell home
Build lots of smaller cabins and rent to many people for a small rental fee per month
Do semi-subsistance farming and sell surplus at farmers markets
Start storage business
 
Office space rental so for obvious reasons not high on most companies' agendas.

Storage space however seems to be doing well. If there are many garages on the property, rent it out as self storage. Put up some shade netting and rent it out for people to keep their boats, caravans and oupa se 1960 Ford Cortina which they don't have space for at home.

Problem then becomes security.
 
If it agricultural land then I would do avocados. that would also depend on the location and the surroundings. If the area suites, then storage or one of the other business ideas suggested above would work.

If you go agricultural, then as above I would do avo's. Good profit margins and have spoken to some people who do avos and who all make loads of money. Also, off the top of my head, this would be relatively low maintenance.
