Being back to consulting (hourly charges) now for close on a year, I am going the route of direct invoicing, and handling all tax, etc via a registered company.

Previously I had a Nedbank business account (other business), but what is the latest to look at? Zero, Thyme, Capitec, etc?

I know that Investec have just released a transactional business banking account aimed at small businesses. Maybe give that a look?
