Business Intelligence for Beginner

can somebody please point me in the right direction, I am looking to learning BI. im not really interested in doing a course and getting certified. I just require a few tutorials and PDF's that can show me the basics, don't want to go into too much detail

Hi There,
BI is I am afraid not something that you can just put a toe in the water.
Yes there are a number of products out there such as COGNOS which go heavily into the subject. Basically what you are trying to do with BI is take a mass of data and distill it into information that the business can make a decision on.
Excel spreadsheets using summaries or pivot tables are examples of what BI can be.

Wikipedia has some informatin that should get you started. Also look at www.roambi.com they have some great easy to use tools to play around with especially if you have an iPad.

You cant learn BI without mastering the tools. It's like learning how to plaster, but you dont know how to mix cement.

Like I said you can't put a toe in the BI water and expect to understand it all.
