One of the secretaries asked me to help her with her Assessment. One of the questions are: What business objectives have you accomplished? I am drawing a blank. What business objections are there for a secretary? And then question two is “What are your business objectives for the future. Any ideas?

Dunno much about the objectives as such, but everyone in the business should have CPA's (Critical Performance Areas) (well in Afrikaans it's called KPA's - Kritiese Prestasie Area) for each employee, which stipulates exactly what is expected from them in what time frame.
She can use that as a guideline perhaps?

The business objective of a secretary is to "Provide operational support to his or her boss in order to facilitate and assist in his day to day operational requirements of his position. "

Think of it from a different angle as well.... what would happen to the business if she was not there? Then convert these negatives into positives!

She should have one. I'll ask her for a copy. Thanks.

Isn't business objectives usually the concern of a manager or executive, director as such?

That is what I thought too?

Good one. Thanks.

Will brainstorm. I am too kind for my own good. Don't really have the time to help her now.

So they can get rid of her and save on operational costs!

Good thinking moggie!

One objective I can think of is Business relationships. She can elaborate on the Business relationships that she might have formed during her period there also organizing/co-ordinating events related to business such as conferences etc.

A lot depends on the role of the people she reports to as well. You need to highlight how she assisted in major tasks/initiatives performed by those people.

Every company has its own jargon, so they were likely referring to KPAs.

Thank goodness I am done with these types of things. When you have your own business, you have the luxury of just getting on with the job.

Imagine I had to draft "business objectives" for myself!

Often these assessments are generic, and as such there will be questions that do not apply to every employee. Normal practice is to mark them as not applicable.

Obviously everyone is in business to turn a profit. That is the primary objective. All the secondary objectives should be to achieve the primary objective. So as long as she is helping the company keep profitable, good on her.
