Buying a Camera, budget R2000.00 Max

As the heading said I'm buying a camera. My max budget is R2000.00 excl memory card and batteries.

I have looked at Fuji Finepix S2995 (R1900.00) and the Nikon Coolpix L310 (R1700.00). Which one should I go for and why. What is the pro and cons of each?

Is there any other camera I should consider, keeping in mind that I love a good zoom and love to take pic's of the moon.

Hmmm, just recently been through this same exercise:

What I found is that it really depends on the individual & since I am not an expert photographer, I needed to play with the cameras a bit.

- What size hands do you have i.e. Are you more comfortable & stable with a bigger camera than a smaller one
- Do you want something smaller but have decent quality -> Samsung wb150
- Do you want to use AAA batteries -> Nikon/WB100

The Samsung camera's have some awesome features e.g. E-Mailing photo's directly from the camera, just need a WiFi connection. Also has the ability to be remote controlled from an IOS (IPad/Iphone) or Android Device.

I am not sure about your area, but there is a Game in Centurion where you can try out all the cameras listed above in the store.

I ended buying the WB150 as it takes much better photos in the dark than the Nikon. The WB100 wasn't available when I needed to make a purchase a couple of months ago. If it was, I probably would have opted for this one, over the WB150 & L310.

Thank you Zarathustra, just got the WB100. Now for the hard part to learn where is what setting. No detailed manual included, just a quick start guide.

Tx there. Do you know of a camera in this price range (or a bit more), which can geotag the pics?
 
You might want to make use of this site once you have a bit of a short list. The site is good for comparing cameras and provide lots of information on TRUE resolution etc.. Many camera's are advertised as being 15Mp etc.. but the true resolution is closer to 9 or even less mega pixels.
