Buying a cellphone on Takealot

Hi everyone. So, I am planning to buy the Samsung S24 via Takealot, as it is on special. However, when I was reading the reviews, there is sellers selling Grey import phones, so I am not here what to do.

Should I buy directly from the Takealot warehouse, and it should be a Sa certified device? Or just look around somewhere else.
 
Friend bought a SAMSUNG A35 from TaL. Within 3 months it refused to switch on. TaL sent it to supplier. Came back and worked for a day
Back to TaL. This time it was away 3 weeks. Came back in worse condition (scratches). Same phone as has IMEI number
Took it to Samsung in Westlake
They said this version is sold in India
Tal now advise their warranty has expired
TaL point to "Limited warranty" and refer him to supplier, who is in Pretoria

Not sure what the price is but when I bought my A25 it was cheaper straight from Samsung SA? (or about the same, cant remember)

Your concern is why I decided to buy straight from them rather than TAL or BOB or anywhere else.
 
Vodacom in Constantia village has same phone R400 cheaper than TaL
 
Legit phones can be had from Takealot (I know of people buying good phones there), but the once I bought one and found anomalies setting it up, I checked the licence detail under 'About Phone' in the sttings. The phone was licenced for UAE and not SA.

I promptly returned it and will likely not again buy a phone from them.

This, I did it for my S23 Ultra and no issues, but have seen people buy others without the 24 month warranty or the not able to register on Samsung SA
 
It's a phone, not a car engine with thousands of moving parts. Look after your phone and you won't need to worry about a warranty...

Takealot sellers sell blacklisted phones or phones from other regions (grey imports) with missing features.

Warranty generally is for factory faults, not for mishandling your phone. If your phones mobo pops at 23 months due to a factory fault, you'll be covered.
 
So, from what I am reading, takealot directly is generally the more better and reliable option. 3rd party sellers should be avoided.

I did query with takealot also if it is for local market this morning, just waiting for confirmation.

I was checking this now on the app, it shows this phone was sold from 3rd party seller?
 
Snapcraze. Got an S22U from them when that launched in 2022. No issues.
 
Tried buying a Samsung phone from Takelalot and Amazon before, all ended up being grey imports from UAE. Wish they would punish and even ban these sellers for deceiving people. Ended up getting an SA region phone from Vodacom in the end.
