Hi guys i need help finding a pc with these min specs:

2.6GHZ or more intel core 2 duo or equivalent AMD CPU

Windows 7

2-4GB Ram

I would buy these seperately but i need to know where to find good prices.

Thanks

What do you want to do with the PC? Gaming, Office work, Video Production, etc? Or do you only want the listed components?

wel if yr on a budget try matrix computer shops the amd board will be about R600 for a ecs make, the cpu on the amd is about R1800 and the ram is around R250 for 2gb.

if u buy intel , then the cpu alone will proberly double in price

then Win 7 entry level is about R2300 ultimate will cost around R3200

Well, i gonna use it for a combination of video production, programming and gaming, mass effect 2 being one of the main reasons:-), how is windows 7 by the way, is it worth the price, i hate having pirated software so im not gonna download it.

Windows 7 is great, I'm sure you would be pleased wih it. Add a decent graphics card to the setup above and you will have a fairly decent gaming PC for not much money.

Im also planning to get either the geforce 9800GT or GTS250, there is only a 200 difference in price on kalahari, so which one is better for gaming

Might want to push the CPU up to a Quad if you plan on doing serious video editing. If its just casual then a Dual is fine.

ok well my brother pointed me to this processer: Intel Boxed Core2 Quad Q9550 Processor - 2.83GHz Quad Core

Coupled with a Intel - Media Series "Ice Dale" G45 Motherboard, a GIGABYTE geforce 9800GT graphics card.

I think, if i didnt forget anything, all i need now is RAM, power supply, dvd writer and a harddrive, any thoughts on that?

Thanks for all your help KhoisanX

E7400

Athlon X4 620

Athlon X4 630

At this price point the Athlon X4 wins. Boxed simply means retail version with heatsink, fan etc.

Aren't the 9800GT and GTS250 the same thing?

The gts250 is just an overclocked 9800gtx. I'd rather recommend you get a 5750 for graphics though. With dx11 it'll last you much longer.

Oh and win7 is awesome.

How bout this for a power supply: http://www.kalahari.net/electronics/Gigabyte-ODIN-470W-24-Pin-Power-Supply/4585/34942849.aspx

I am totally clueless as to what ram to get.

The motherboard i was thinking of getting has these specs:

Socket LGA775 @ FSB1333 For Celeron, Pentium & Core2 Duo & Quad CPU's
4x DDR2-800 (Dual)
5x SATAII
1x ATA100
1x PCI Express x16
2x PCI Express x1
1x PCI Slots
10x USB 2.0 (6x Cable)
Intel X4500HD Graphics
DVI Port Only
SATA RAID Support
2x IEEE1394 Ports
Integrated Intel 8ch HD Audio Codec
Integrated Gigabit LAN
MicroATX

+1

EDIT: Or a 4890. Check the prices again in January, pretty sure they'll drop.
