Buying an iPad2 overseas

I'm off to Bali next week and want to get a iPad2. I see it's about R1500 cheaper in Singapore (whether its this cheap at the airport which I'm going through I'm not sure) than it is locally but I'm worried about taxes and forfeiting any warranty support, is it worth the saving or rather shell out for it locally?

Not sure about taxes when you come back in. I gather, I can't recall where I read this, I think on the MyBB forums somewhere. If you pay the tax/duty when you come back on the device then the local guys (Core) are obliged to support and honour the warranty locally. I haven't heard of anyone who has done or tried this so dunno. I've got an iPad1 from USA from when it was launched and I didn't really bother or think about the need for support. I took the risk and touch wood ..... all is OK still.

Noob question. So if you don't pay the taxes and customs etc you void your warranty? because I want to buy one online and after taxes the $349 iPad is the same price as ones here...

Well the warranty is valid if you were back where you got it - just whether the local agents (Core) honour it based on you not buying it (technically) via them is another thing, and an unknown.

There was a thread about 2 weeks ago on this / similar subject from someone who was overseas at the time, and wanted to be sure of warranty.
Will see if I can find it, and post the link. Maybe you should then PM him, thereafter, if still active.
