Hi, I want to purchase some Blu-Rays from Amazon uk/us. I'm aware that during check out Amazon calculates everything for you (tax, import duty etc): My questions are can it be possible I might end up paying more than they estimated total given and what would be the best payment method for someone without a credit card?

it is possible to pay more than the estimate at checkout but, that will purely depend on how customs feel when your package arrives in SA and they decide you havent paid enough duties etc.. what is also possible, is that you may get refunded if amazon estimates too much duties etc.. got a refund the other day for this..

if you have a new enough visa or mastercard debit card, you may be able to use that to pay on amazon..

It all depends on the courier. I've ordered several items this year and only had to pay extra when my order was handled by Fedex. The rest of the orders were shipped via Aramex. No extra charges and small refunds on two occasions.

Amazon overestimates the amount so it will never happen.

What might happen is that they rebate you because it was less.

Customs isn’t a lucky draw. It’s a preset formula that doesn’t change.

Do you have to request a refund? I have ordered a few times but never got a refund, even when I definitely should've (under R400).

No, it's automatic... You never even see the customs documentation so you would not know to request a refund

Thanks guys. Now that I know I won't be hit with some nasty surprises, I'll definitely buy from them and maybe pick up a few electronics during Black Friday.

Have you compared prices with Takealot and Loot, Takealot also has Ultra HD Blu-ray's

It's not really about prices. It's mostly about the hard to find movies like the Edgar Wright Cornetto trilogy and Blu-Rays of Tv series(we mostly get DVDs)

Indeed. The price is usually the same as buying them locally and Amazon is honestly faster than ordering locally if the local supplier doesn't have stock on hand.

Just make sure the discs are not region locked - seen some UK guys complaining after getting stuff from USA
