Buying Hardware from abroad.

I've a relative in Oz coming to visit in a couple of weeks time. Would it be worth it to ask him to buy me hardware there?

Define "hardware" ... if you're looking for a complete machine, they may get stopped by customs but if you're looking for a few components, they could probably get them through without too much hassle.
