I don't like to be the bearer of bad news, (I too was excited about this device), but have you guys seen all the
bad press it's been getting...
Bad press is because the poor American's aren't used to having unlocked phones on the market, ag shame :erm:
Bad Press Issues:
- Bad Customer Support - It's google's first venture, probably the reason why it only launched in certain countries for now, I'm pretty sure they'll step it up as time goes on ... anyway, us South Africans are generally used to replies to email in 1 - 2 days
- Cancellation Fee - If you cancel the contract with T-Mobile within 120 days, you get charged an addition $350 on top of the $180 to account for the rebate, because you are no longer on the contract ... if you cancel after the 120 days, you don't pay the $350 ... show me a South African that doesn't pay if they cancel before 24 months
-3G Issue - The device never underwent network testing with the T-Mobile network, and so the radio is working to standard ... I found some temporary fixes you can do with software on the Android Market ... ultimately, a software issue that will be fixed with a firmware update.
-Touchscreen Issue - Touchscreen goes a bit haywire when the phone goes to sleep mode and the comes back on. Temporary fix = switch screen off and on. Clearly a software issue, and google says they are working on a firmware update that will be done over the air.
-Americans complaining because they aren't used to service half as good as theirs, but twice as good as ours ... well s**t happens.
Conclusion: Every new device has its initial glitches, and they are usually fixed with an update ... I don't recall the iPhone being perfect out of the box?
