Buying refurbished monitors

Hi,

Just came across a place selling refurbished LG monitors. Is it a good idea to buy refurbished or should I just spend a little extra and buy new? They offer a 3 month warranty on these monitors.

Tricky one, depends on the condition of the ccfl backlight(s), once they start dimming they need replacing which is normally not cost effective and might not be immediately apparently at time of purchase. I've a 24" BenQ LCD which developed this condition after 4 years of 12hrs/day operation which, although usable, is noticeably dimmer than my other monitors and I find uncomfortable to use for extended periods.

Unless you're getting a really good deal on the refurbished units I be inclined to steer clear.

I bought two Samsung 27' monitors in the past from a friend and both died on me after about two years use. Really don't want that happening again..

It's quite a good deal this - 23" LG monitors from R1200 - R1450. With DVI, VGA and HDMI connector ports.

i been buying refurb everything from partserve, and so far *touch wood* so good , bought a 22" hp lcd there this week for 699 i think it was
 
I eventually replaced the BenQ with a Dell S2340L LED for R2100 at the beginning of the year, really nice monitor but I believe prices have increased a bit.

That's what I call a good deal, what are they asking for 23" & 24" LCDs?
 
The currently don't have stock, only 19" and down, will keep an eye out
