We are wanting to buy a used Renault Clio 4 and looking for some advice.

Here is the stats:
-Renault Clio 4
-2013
-Dynamique
-27000 km (so still under warranty and maintenance)
-Red
-R160 000 all in cost
-Dealer (non-renault) is seller

Having looked at the Car and taken for a test drive, happy with the performance and inspection.
Standard 80 point check was done. There was scrape on the side which is totally gone after some panel beating.
It looks like in fairly good condition (except for below point) with one previous owner. Regular servicing done.

After we re-inspected now after the fixing of the scrape by dealer, we can see that there is some minor paint chipping, on the driver side door. Also very tiny paint chips on the bonnet and front bumper.

Do you guys think that this is still a good deal? Is there any danger of paint further being chipped or would this be a show-stopper? Other than these cosmetic issues, the car looks good, and you can only really see this from close up.

You must understand that you are buying a "Used" car, and not a "New" car, and, as such the odd chip and scratch is acceptable. If you don't want them, then buy new.

The car looks very nice in the photos.

Just one thing extra, I see that you are new here. Just sit back and ignore the Renault / French car haters if you post on this forum, they come with the package as well!

Still under warrentee so its good, if anything catastophic happens you'll be covered as parts for imported cars are expensive.

Just check online what the going price is for similar cars if that's what you're worried about

Once you have decided whether or not you want the car and you are ready to do the deal, Offer R145k and tell the sales person you are willing to take the car now at that price.

Use the spare cash to get some kind of protection for the bonnet and front bumper. You will thank me in 3 or 4 years.

My MIL has one. Great car. It must be serviced regularly.

Depreciation on them is horrible.

How long is left on the warranty?
Is there a service plan? How long is left on it.

Try to get the Renault service history.

Lovely cars. Looks very good still & the top spec Dynamique is always a winner.

Just a word of warning, the paint on the red ones uses a new multi-stage Pearl process where some of the base coat is mixed into the clear top coat as well.

It is hellishly expensive to have any area (properly) repainted on the red ones.
