Buzybuy - Uncapped. Any good?

Some problems I've noticed while checking out the Buzybuy website:

1) No SSL on client area or during order process
2) No Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy or Acceptable Usage Policy on website, only on order page
3) No company registration details on website

Otherwise the pricing looks good. But I will never supply personal details over an unsecure connection.

Strange cause I still have my gconnect valentines 1Mbps uncapped account that I used in Feb a bit and its working for march too. :-)

i've used 56kb. i've send an email and asked whats going on. they said that i subscribed for march. yet last night i get an email that the account had been deactivated...

i'll skip them in future.

their hosting is excellent.

but indeed they dont use any registration details on their website or invoices even. is that legal?

I'm starting to suspect that you are the owner of Buzybuy, as you keep on raving about their services all over the forum.

I also doubt whether their hosting can be so "excellent", due to the website being hosted by Web Africa. As most of us know, there are only a handful of "excellent" hosting providers in SA and Web Africa is not one of them.

no i'm not. they're hosting 9 websites for me. all my emails get answered in minutes not hours or days. they set up all my accounts, emails and re uploaded my websites free of charge. i had endless problem with the four hosting companies that hosted my nine sites.

as i said before, its by far the best service i had received from a hosting company. wether or not WA host it or not.

busybuy is a cape town base company.

i stay in the boendoes...

i would stay away from gconnect. took their vanetines day special but they deactivated it before i counld use it.
Also on G-connect Valentines special and will start testing downloads soon (no noticeable problems or issues).

I ordered for both months, but only received March.

I'm always wary to invest in a company that doesn't spend any reasonable amount of time on developing a decent website. In this case, a very simple re-branding of a wordpress theme (http://themes.goodlayers.com/modernize/) , barely any customization whatsoever. The website is the first thing customers see and is usually a representation of the company itself. If they can't get that right, it makes me worry about the product they're selling. If they're cutting corners on their website, they're probably cutting corners elsewhere.

@captain morgan - everything you wanted to kno about buzybuy...

For R249 a month these Buzybuy IS accounts are well worth it. I downloaded 50GB's since 1 March and I'm still on 5 stars.

I can only imagine if I was on MWEB's 2MB throttled account @ R239 I would have been throttled last Friday already.

Best bang for buck around IMHO

@Grim - They only resell WA IS accounts but the MTN deals are sold directly to them. I sent them a mail last night around 8pm asking about the IS shaping policy and the 5 star rating etc and hey replied within 30 min outlining how the star rating works as well confirming they in business with WA and are resellers. Their support staff seem very knowledgable and forthright with regard to their shaping, which is a quite refreshing considering the vague answers given out by ISP's. The last mail I received from them last was around 11:30PM. I must admit that their service is stellar, who replies to support emails after 11PM at night (I'm on night shift so I had time)

As confirmed by Buzybuy, their IS accounts have no throttling whatsoever only shaping between during business hours and when the network is overloaded. After hours its full tilt no shaping, unless obviously the network is overloaded. The star system, according buzybuy, does not affect your account or download speed but is simply a visual indicator of how much data you have used and in no way affects your account or download speed. IS will only intervene if the account is being used maliciously.

I think I finally found an ISP, although a reseller, tahts holds customer service in high regard. I pray the speed and service stays this way.

thats what i've been saying all along. service wise they're out there on there own. no other hosting company/isp ever come close.

all emails are answered within minutes not days as the other isp's.

only thing they should rectify is their company registration details on their website.

@Mika1000 - I gotta agree 100% (I would say 1000% but maths dont work that way:p). I'll gladly pay a little extra for something if the service is right.

When I asked why they dont have a presence on Mybroadband the reply was:

"We are busy developing a strong loyal client base and looking at a new office location this year.
We would like to make sure that we are ready to serve a large client base and not make the mistake of outgrowing and sacrificing customer service.

Once all this is in order you shall*definitely*see more of us on mybroadband :)

Our current handle name on mybroadband is "Buzybuy""

Thats what we all need, an ISP that puts the end user first!

Just took a look - On paper it looks awesome.

Just need some feedback from people.
I like the IS / MTN choice

Thinking of moving to Buzybuy 2Mb uncapped account, I download between 25-75gig per month (Mostly p2p). Yay or Nay?

I am with Mweb on a "throttled" account, I downloaded 28gigs and they killing me with the speeds. Even for surfing.

@Jarrodr I'd say its definertly worth it, esp since its only R10 more than your 5GB soft capped uncapped MWEB account. The only problem I have is with the IS shaping, during office hrs HTTP downloads get between 60-80% line speed, torrents around 50% and NNTP between 25-50%. After 6pm its full line speed on everything.
This is no fault of theirs but simply the shaping IS applies to their uncapped accounts.

I've downloaded 75GBs so far this month and everything is still going strong.

So if you dont mind being shaped during hours then I'd say go for it.

I must add that on weekends it feels as though I'm on an unshaped package, averaging 200-220kbps no matter the protocol.

Thanks Gboss, only concern now is the after sales support. I tried calling the landline telephone number at 6pm and it went to voice mail... Not cool.

Have you tried sending them an email? I found that they replied all my emails withing 15-30mins. I have never spoken to the support guys on the phone but last week they were replying to mails till 1am (I was on night shift). Honestly their support staff's knowledge is far superior to any othe ISP support that I have dealt with.

Drop them a mail and see. They dont have the 30day calendar notice thing like others so if you aint happy as long as you cancel before the 25th then your account will be cancelled. that was one of the reasons I gave them a try, I didnt want to be stuck waiting 60days to change ISP's like what happened with MWEB.

Hi Captain Morgan,

Came across this thread about Buzybuy whilst doing some updates. Amazing what can be found at 1AM the morning :)

Allow me to gladly answer the three concerns you raised.

1. We don’t use SSL on the order process as there is nothing of great security value when checking out.
We only require the simple basics such as name, surname and contact.
There is no credit card details or identification numbers being captured.
Should we start moving over to online payments or requiring sensitive data then we shall without a doubt use SSL.
If you still feel uncomfortable with this then we shall gladly even process your order via email or telephone.

2. We list the main terms and conditions on every product page at the bottom within an expanding block.
The reason for this is that most customers do not read the terms and conditions and just want to know the product.
So it is there but you just need to click the + icon to expand the Terms and Conditions at the bottom of the page.
On the check out we list the full terms and conditions. All our terms and conditions are plain and standard nothing deceptive.

3. I shall have our company registration number listed on the website, I have put this into the change request.
Our company registration number is 2008/179260/23 and we have been serving many clients for the past few years already.

We package all our deals to offer our clients the best possible pricing with quality products and personal knowledgeable service.

Hope this answers all the questions and concerns you may have.
Feel free to contact us should you have anymore questions.

* Thank you to all our clients who have replied to the thread thus far, much appreciated.

Regards,
The Buzybuy Team.

@BuzyBuy you thread ender you...

Thanks for the update! Pretty cool how some sites list you on the multiple.

I've been looking for a (who cares about reselling) host on par with what you're offering for a while. It's a pitty it only came through on some pretty specific keyword searching. you should invest in advertising :D
