Bwana to educate us on bagels

Since Bwana has the honour ( yes Bwana, that's how we spell the word 'honour' in SA ) of being of American descent, he would be in a position to educate us on the world of bagels.

Without departing for NYC, is there a place locally that sells decent bagels ?

Apart from cream cheese or salmon or scrambled eggs, how do we serve it ?

Or maybe there are other Americans on the forum ?

Outside of NY Bagel in Sea Point I haven't come across any decent bagels in SA - that's not to say they don't exist but the ones at NYB are excellent. They freeze well so if you're even in that neighbourhood…

I like mine toasted with butter or lox and cream cheese. They make a nice alternative to bread for sandwiches or burgers too.

FWIW they're not particularly difficult to make so it's surprising good ones are so hard to find.
